Attractions and Things to Do in Dallas
Texas
When you're not at a Latin theme
party, Latin dance show or Cuban theme party, there's plenty
to see in and around Dallas. A good place to start the day's
entertainment is with a visit to the Dallas Zoo.
This is the biggest and oldest
zoo in Texas, covering 95 acres of parkland. Don't forget to
take a picture of the giraffe at the entrance to the zoo. At
67.5 feet tall it is an amazing sight.
Children will love the children's
zoo area and will enjoy having a pony trek around the grounds.
The zoo features two main areas, including one titled the Wilds
of Africa. It's an great experience that the whole family will
enjoy.
While you're there, why not check
out the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park? Find out if seahorses can
salsa as you check out the seahorse rodeo with nine different
species. Alligators, eels and turtles are part of a lineup that
includes thousands of aquatic species.
If you want to get out of the
Caribbean-style heat, then make your next stop the Dallas Arboretum.
The lush grounds make the perfect calming retreat from the hustle
and bustle of Dallas. As well as the plants, there's a Spanish
style house and a sculpture garden to see.
Salsa dancers who want to get
a feel for the old-style Dallas should drop by the Dallas Heritage
Village at Old City Park. This is your chance to see how a town
looked back in 1861. It's got a bank, a schoolhouse and several
homes, as well as many of the animal species that were a common
sight back then. To complete the illusion, residents speak to
you in the vernacular of the day. |
