Dallas Texas Latin Theme Entertainment
The big event for salsa dancers
in Dallas is the Cinco de Mayo celebration, which commemorates
the city's Mexican heritage. This is a festival of food, Latin
music and dancing which is sure to delight salsa dancers.
The festival celebrates the defeat
of the French by Mexico at the Battle of Puebla. Events are spread
out around the city and include parades, street festivals, bands,
dancing, block parties and Cuban Theme tropical Latin party costumes
that have to be seen to be believed.
The Texas State Fair, which runs
for 24 days from late September to early October, has been running
since 1886, offering exhibits, races and other attractions.
Not a lot has changed, except
that it is bigger and better and now brings about $350 million
a year into the economy. Exhibits are spread over six buildings
and the Fair Park venue also features the Texas star, which is
the tallest Ferris wheel in the US.
There are dozens of fairground
rides, thousands of animals and thousands of performers. Don't
forget to try a corny dog; they were invented by state fair concessionaires
in 1942.
Other entertainment events include
the 20 year old Kid Film Festival in January, the Dallas Autorama
in February, and the North Texas Irish Festival and Greenville
Avenue St Patrick's Day Parade in March. You may not hear Cuban
music or see salsa dancers, but you can still have a great time
listening to street bands. |
